Managing Partners

David Bookbinder is a co-founder of Marsulex Inc. ("Marsulex"), Chemtrade Logistics Income Trust ("Chemtrade"), and SPI Polyols, Inc. ("SPI Polyols"). During his career spanning more than 25 years Mr. Bookbinder has identified and closed many investment opportunities and subsequently realized upon them through private and public sales. Mr. Bookbinder has repositioned companies to capitalize on changing market and competitive conditions, has directed merger and acquisition and capital markets activities such as public listings and private capital raising and has completed the restructuring of several distressed or bankrupt companies. Mr. Bookbinder's experience is global with business activities conducted in Canada, the United States, Brazil, China, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, Germany and Botswana. Mr. Bookbinder is also the co-Founder and President of Orfund Foundation, a Canadian Registered Charity, which provides support to orphans and vulnerable children in Botswana, Africa. Mr. Bookbinder received a Master of Science, Development Management from OU, United Kingdom.

André Gauthier has 25 years of business and management experience. Throughout his career, Mr. Gauthier has acquired vast experience in every aspect of financial management including multi-jurisdiction mergers and acquisitions, raising financing from private and public equity and debt capital markets, debt restructuring, investor relations, reporting, corporate governance and regulatory compliance of US and Canadian listed companies. Mr Gauthier served as Executive Vice President and CFO of Telesystem International Wireless Inc. ("TIW") until it was sold to Vodafone Group Plc ("Vodafone") in 2005 in a transaction valued at US$4.5 billion. Mr. Gauthier holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from HEC Montreal and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Ordre des Comptables Agréés du Québec since 1984.

Christopher Legg has 20 years of experience working with growth companies having spent eleven years in the investment banking industry and the past nine years working as a venture capitalist. During his career, Mr. Legg has helped drive over 35 liquidity events, both as advisor and investor. He spent a significant portion of his career focused on growth companies in the communications software and infrastructure, digital media and wireless applications industries. Mr. Legg has extensive international experience having spent considerable stages of his career or made investments in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. Mr. Legg received a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours with Distinction) from Queen's University in 1988 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1994.

Alex Moorhead has 15 years experience, primarily building and managing high growth companies. Prior to joining the Fund, Mr. Moorhead co-founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of LMG, a UK based, technology enabled, marketing services business, which was acquired by Groupe Aeroplan (TSX:AER) in December 2007. Mr. Moorhead has also worked in corporate finance at Banc of America Securities (San Francisco) and UBS (New York) where he executed a wide variety of transactions including capital raising and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Moorhead began his career as part of the start-up management team at Loyalty Management Group Canada which owned and operated the Air Miles program in Canada. Mr. Moorhead received a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen's University in 1991 and an MBA from Northwestern University (Kellogg) in 1997.

Principal

Sandy Scott began his career in Silicon Valley in 1999 as an investment banker with the CSFB Technology Group focused on software and internet transactions. He followed this with several years at Vector Capital where he invested in later stage turnaround, buyout, and spin-out opportunities and where he was extensively involved in the acquisition and turnaround of Corel Corporation. Subsequently, Sandy turned his focus to entrepreneurship with time in the digital media space at Trouvé Media and then leading sales and marketing efforts for Panjiva, a New York City technology startup focused on facilitating global trade. Sandy graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Computer Science and Economics and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Deb Shaw joined Tandem from UpClick, a technology startup focused on ecommerce outsourcing for digital products. Deb led business development initiatives while at UpClick. Deb began his career as an analyst at VantagePoint Venture Partners, a $4.5 billion venture capital fund based in Silicon Valley. While at VantagePoint, Deb focused on sourcing new investments in Canada primarily in digital media and communications. Deb graduated with Great Distinction and Dean's Honour List from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce.

Marc Weiner has management consulting and technology startup experience. Previously, he worked at The Boston Consulting Group in Toronto primarily focusing on growth strategies, optimization of operations and post-merger integrations in the B2C and healthcare space. Marc also spent a year at BCG Mumbai helping Indian domestic companies prepare for growth and multinationals looking to strategically enter India. After BCG, he co-founded and ran SellYourEvents, a SaaS internet platform automating ticketing and registrations for event organizers. Marc has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Bachelor of Science (Statistics) from Queen's University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Controller

Gina Piccolo is the Head of Finance for Tandem. Prior to joining Tandem, she held the position of Financial Controller at Argo Global Capital, a Venture Capital Fund. Previously, she spent nine years at Telesystem International Wireless Inc. ("TIW") until it was sold in 2005. Gina is a graduate of Concordia University having received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration specializing in Accounting. She is a member of the Ordre des comptables généraux accrédités du Québec (CGA).

Founding Partners

Brent Belzberg has over 30 years of executive management experience in finance, operations and acquisitions. In 2001, Mr. Belzberg founded TorQuest and is currently Senior Managing Partner. TorQuest, based in Toronto, manages in excess of $700 million of private equity funds, principally in Canada. TorQuest and its predecessor Harrowston have managed over $1 billion of private equity capital with a focus on buy-outs and growth investments across a broad range of industries. Mr. Belzberg is a director of CIBC, Associated Brands, DayMen Lowepro, Herbal Magic and Global Traffic Technologies. He was previously a director of Four Seasons Hotels, O & Y REIT, CNC Global Ltd. ("CNC Global"), and GCAN Insurance Company. Mr. Belzberg is also a director of The Gerald Schwartz and Heather Reisman Foundation, Mount Sinai Hospital and Canadian Council for Christians and Jews. Mr. Belzberg received a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen's University in 1972 and a J.D. from the University of Toronto in 1976.

Charles Sirois is the founder, Chairman and CEO of Telesystem, a private holding company and one of Canada's largest venture investing groups over the last 25 years. Directly and through the funds that it manages, Telesystem has invested more than $1 billion in venture opportunities of all stages. Its focus has been primarily in the ICT sector with increasing exposure to industrial innovation and health sciences. Mr. Sirois is the Chairman of the Board of CIBC, Enablis Entrepreneurial Network, Enablis Foundation Canada and Gestion Plexo Inc. He is a Director of Zone3 Inc., Propulsion Ventures Inc., ID Capital Management Inc. ("ID Capital") and of Argo Global Capital. Mr. Sirois has a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Université de Sherbrooke, a Master's degree in Finance from Université Laval (Québec City), as well as honorary doctorates from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), University of Ottawa, Concordia University and Université Laval. Mr. Sirois received the Order of Canada in 1994 and was made a knight of the Ordre National du Québec in April 1998.
